Xfinity Internet With and Without Additional Services

Xfinity gives a range of internet plans to choose from and each plan can be customized with additional services. You can also alter some details such as the term contract and data cap to fit your unique needs better. Standalone and bundled internet deals can include discounts if Xfinity is running a promotion. You can tell Xfinity customer service what you’re looking for and they’ll find a promotional plan for you.

Here we explain what equipment/service you need with Xfinity Internet, what you can do without, and what Xfinity Internet comes with at no additional cost. You can download user manual from Slideshare downloader

Xfinity Internet Without Other Services and Equipment

Xfinity Internet Without Cable

Xfinity does not require you to bundle the internet with cable TV. You can subscribe to an internet plan without TV service and still get a great price. Currently, there are 12- and 24-month promotions on Xfinity Internet plans with speeds ranging from 300 to 1200 Mbps.

Xfinity Internet Without Contract

Xfinity doesn’t require a term contract for its internet plans. Bundles, deals, and promotions also don’t require term contracts.

However, if you want, you have to option to get a 12-month or 24-month contract for additional discounts. Contact Xfinity customer service to learn how much you can save with term contracts on an Xfinity internet plan.

Xfinity Internet Without Mobile

Xfinity Internet is available without Xfinity Mobile service. You still get access to Xfinity’s 20 million+ nationwide WiFi hotspots for your mobile devices with all Xfinity internet plans. All you have to do is download the Xfinity WiFi Hotspot app and sign into your Xfinity account. The app shows you nearby hotspots and encrypts your data to protect your privacy in public networks.

Xfinity Internet Without Phone Line

Xfinity Internet without a phone line costs $20 less than Internet + phone bundles. You don’t miss out on any discounts or promotions by omitting Xfinity Voice Unlimited.

If you were to get phone service, Xfinity Voice is an excellent choice. It includes unlimited nationwide calling, affordable international calling, and tons of useful features. Plus, you can get a battery for your xFi Gateway that powers the phone for up to 24 hours in case of a power outage.

Xfinity Internet Without Coax Cable

Xfinity Internet is not available without a coaxial cable. You can’t have Xfinity service if you only have DSL or satellite in your area. However, Xfinity is currently expanding its 10G network to more areas.

Xfinity Internet Without Modem

Xfinity Internet Getting Started Kit includes a leased Wireless Gateway, which is a router and a modem combined into one device. But you can buy and use a third-party modem and router too. You’ll have to make an initial investment but you’ll save $14 per month. You won’t get xFi services with your own modem and router, however.

Before you buy a modem, check if it’s compatible with Xfinity Internet by visiting Xfinity’s Device Info page which shows you all the approved modems. Preferably get a DOCSIS 3.1 modem that has higher upstream and downstream capacity. Xfinity is also bringing symmetrical multi-gigabit plans sometime this year, but these plans will only be available to customers with DOCSIS 3.1 modems. xFi Advanced Gateway has DOCSIS 3.1.

Xfinity Internet With Other Services and Equipment

Xfinity Internet With Flex

You can add an Xfinity Flex streaming box to your Xfinity Internet plan for a small fee. The rates of Xfinity Flex vary and are not disclosed. Ask Xfinity customer service about the cost of Xfinity Internet + Flex plans.

Xfinity Flex is pretty easy to set up and allows you to access all your content on your TV. You also get Xfinity’s award-winning Voice Remote that can find and display any title or a grid of titles in any genre you say. Flex also supports all your streaming services, including Max, Peacock, and Netflix.

Xfinity Internet With Peacock

Xfinity has been including Peacock Premium at no additional cost with Xfinity services. This offer ends on June 26, 2026, and you won’t be able to get Peacock Premium for free with Xfinity Internet. Peacock Premium is still free with Spectrum Internet service.

If you want Peacock with Xfinity Internet, you get it with NOW TV. NOW TV is a new affordable TV service from Xfinity that only costs $20 per month. It includes 40+ live TV channels, 20+ FAST channels, and Peacock Premium at no additional cost.

Xfinity Internet With Unlimited Data

Xfinity has both capped and unlimited data caps. Xfinity’s unlimited plans cost $20 to $30 more than capped plans. In some states, you can turn a capped plan into an unlimited one by getting xFi Complete WiFi service at $25 per month. Call Xfinity customer service for accurate details in your state.

Xfinity’s capped plans have a data limit of 1.2 TB, which is virtually unlimited for most homes. An average house in America uses between 500 to 600 GB per month. And when you run out of data for the first time in 12 months, you don’t have to pay an overage fee. You can exceed the limit once every 12 months without having to pay extra. 50 GB costs $10 for subsequent overages.

Xfinity Internet With Your Own Router

Xfinity Internet comes with a leased xFi Gateway, but you can use your own modem and router and save $15 per month. However, you won’t be able to control the network with the Xfinity app and you won’t have Advanced Security. We recommend a WiFi 6 or 6E router to benefit from Xfinity’s high-speed and ultra-low-latency 10G Network.

What Comes With Xfinity Internet?

Xfinity Internet Getting Started Kit includes documentation, a Getting Started Guide, a coax cable, a power cord, and a leased Gateway that’s both a modem and a WiFi 6E router. Here are the speeds included with six of the most widely available internet plans.

Capped Plans

Xfinity has two plans with a 1.2 TB data cap: Connect and Connect More. Connect has 75 Mbps top download and 10 Mbps top upload speeds for $20 per month while Connect More has 200 Mbps top download and 10 Mbps top upload speeds for $25—so the latter delivers a lot more value for just $5 extra. Connect More also has a 24-month price lock compared to the 12-month price lock with Connect. Both plans are free from contracts.

Unlimited Plans

Fast and Superfast are Xfinity’s affordable high-speed plans with unlimited data. Fast costs $55 per month for 400 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up. Superfast doubles these speeds to 800 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up for $70 per month. Both plans have a 12-month promo period and no term contract.

Unlimited Gigabit Plans

Xfinity Gigabit and Gigabit Extra deliver max speeds of 1000/20 Mpds and 1200/35 Mbps respectively. Gigabit costs $75 with a 12-month price lock and Gigabit Extra costs $80 with a 24-month price lock. Both plans are unlimited and contract-free.

Conclusion

Xfinity has six internet plans that can be combined with other services such as xFi and Flex, but it’s also possible to get an internet-only plan. Xfinity allows approved third-party equipment but Xfinity’s exclusive services are only compatible with provided equipment.
